Gina Wilvang
D.P.M.

Dr. Gina Wilvang was born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.  She attended the University of California, Davis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology, as well as a minor in Spanish.  Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, she moved to New York City where she received her doctorate from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

Her education at the college included intense training at the affiliated Foot Center of New York in Harlem. Working in this facility, the largest center of its kind, Dr. Wilvang cultivated a firm foundation in patient care and compassion while providing clinical services to a wide and diverse patient load.  Upon completion of her graduate studies, which included the two years immersed in the Foot Center of New York, her mentors and teachers collectively selected her for the highly esteemed NYCPM Faculty Scholarship based on her adept clinical skills and her attentive bedside manner.

In addition to receiving this prestigious award which showcased her character, she was also recognized as the top academic student in her class being named the recipient of the Dr. Emil Rose Examination Scholarship. Dr. Wilvang was pronounced a member of the Pi Delta National Honor Society and graduated with honors, magna cum laude.

Once she completed her medical education on the east coast, Dr. Wilvang was pleased to return to her native Southern California where she was granted her first choice for her postgraduate training. She was accepted for a comprehensive two-year surgical residency program Western Medical Center, Santa Ana, an acute care hospital designated as a Level II trauma center (currently Orange County Global Medical Center).

In addition to extensive training in foot and ankle surgery (elective, reconstructive, post-traumatic, and diabetic limb salvage), Dr. Wilvang spent many rotation hours practicing among the indispensable disciplines of wound care, emergency medicine, orthopedics, and micro-vascular surgery.

One of the most sought after features of her residency program was a regular assignment in the hospital’s renowned wound care center where she honed techniques in the treatment of all types of lower extremity wounds. These skills have proven to be invaluable to the wound management which currently comprises a substantial portion of her practice today.

Dr. Wilvang is board qualified with the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry.  She has been practicing podiatric medicine in Orange County now for over 20 years. She proudly joined the team of Orange County Foot and Ankle Group in 2014, eager to share her passion for mindfulness and positivity with the group and her patients.  She believes the best medicine is a positive attitude and an open mind; she is a practitioner of science and faith.

Dr. Wilvang makes it a point to acknowledge the power of our mind and our thoughts in the healing process. She is a proponent of conservative, non-invasive treatment whenever possible and promotes prevention as the key to healthy feet and a healthy life.  Honest and compassionate care is at the forefront of Dr. Wilvang’s practice.  She strives to establish a quality doctor-patient relationship that involves listening, trust, and patient education.

These wise words from Ralph Waldo Emerson reflect her genuine sentiments as a health care provider:

Just as Dr. Wilvang enjoys where she works, she makes sure to enjoy where she lives as well.  She currently resides in Huntington Beach with her loving husband and two flourishing children.  She enjoys yoga, paddle boarding, dancing, reading, and traveling.  She consistently practices meditation daily and loves to spend time outdoors and in nature.

Tam Nguyen
DPM

Dr. Tam Nguyen is a specialist in the foot and ankle.  Born and raised in Los Angeles he calls Southern California his home. He completed his bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology and decided to broaden his education by studying philosophy and theology. With a special interest in ancient languages, he took courses in biblical Greek, ancient Hebrew, ecclesial Latin and modern day Spanish.

Dr. Nguyen then attended Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona for his medical training. Afterward, he completed his intensive residency training at the Stanford affiliated Veteran Affairs hospital in Palo Alto California where he served as chief resident. He is board qualified in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

He enjoys treating all aspects of foot ailments including bunions, forefoot deformity corrections, diabetic limb salvage and trauma. He enjoys evidence-based medicine and working as a team with patients to provide the best possible care. Outside of work he enjoys reading science fiction, working on cars and meeting other people with difficult to pronounce last names. He spends the rest his free time playing with his two young boys, Benedict and Francis.
